Thank you for your interest in becoming a USA Archery Level 1 Certified Instructor. This certification will allow you to run Archery events and Archery merit badges for all ages of Scouting participants.

The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides graduates the necessary tools to maintain a high-level of safety both on and off the archery range and ensure that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors, and spectators.

Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs including the Archery merit badge to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings in the disciplines of target, field or 3-D archery. The Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs and lesson plans.

Important notes:

To be eligible for the 50% off JAMBO COMBO STARS Training Discount, Scouts are Trustworthy and must do ALL of the following:

  • Sign up for the 2024 STARS Training class(es) that you want to take.
  • Commit to and actually help run the JAMBO STARS program on the ranges for a minimum of 2 full days.
  • Sign up for the Colorado Jamboree at McNeil Scout Ranch as Staff on September 27-29, 2024.
  • May Sign up for multiple discounted 2024 STARS classes, even those after the Colorado Jamboree.
  • If you do not help on the Colorado Jamboree ranges for any reason, you agree to pay back all of the training discounts.

Must be 15yrs old or older.

Online Course Completion required prior to the start of this session.
Your instructor will provide details for registering for and taking the online portion prior to the class. As such, Registration MUST be submitted no later than 2/14/23 to allow time to complete the online session.

Supplies Required

  • All attendees must bring a signed BSA Health Form Parts A & B. Participants under 18 must have a parent/guardian signature as well
  • Adults 18 and older must bring proof of current Youth Protection Training (YPT) - this can be completed via my.scouting.org
  • Appropriate clothing for Colorado's changing weather - shooting exercises may be conducted outside (rain or shine!)
  • Lunch/snacks, Water Bottle/drinks, and any medical supplies necessary.
  • Pen/pencil/highlighter to take notes.
  • A 2" - 3" three-ring binder for class materials

Do NOT bring any Bows or arrows. These will be provided as necessary. If you wish to bring your own for qualification shoots, you must contact the lead instructor ahead of time. Usage is subject to the discretion of the instructor(s).

Lodging and Meals

Meals will not be provided, please bring your own lunch and a beverage for this session.

Cost - $90. Note an additional $40 cost to USA Archery is required for the online portion of the course.

Cancellation Policy
Please plan ahead accordingly as there will be no refunds. To be eligible for a credit for the same course in the future, notice of cancellation must be received no less than 96 hours in advance of the course. Once we order course materials, we cannot return them.
