You must be a member of a Scouts BSA unit (or a member of a Crew or Ship) on April 26, 2024 to participate.  NOTE: This is not a Range Sports Event for Cub Scouts.

Join us from Friday - Sunday, April 26 - 28, 2024 for Shootzenfest, the Greater Colorado Council's premier Range Sports Outing, held at Camp Cris Dobbins at McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.

This will be a fun filled 2 nights of camping and fellowship at McNeil Scout Ranch open to all ages of Scouts BSA members, Venturers, and Sea Scouts. Scouts BSA members will be able to work on their rifle and shotgun merit badge shooting qualifications on Sunday if desired. Please note: this event is not open to Cub Scouts or Webelos. Through the Top Shot Event, additional competitive range sports activities are included in the program for Venturers and Sea Scouts only. Even though the focus is on the youth participants, adults and instructors can have a little shooting time as available.

This event is limited to 200 participants. Please sign up early as we did reach capacity last year. Registration will close on April 22, 2024.

COST: Early Bird Youth/ Young Adult (18-20) $99. Adults/staff (21 ) $39. After April 14, 2024 registration increases for Youth/ Young Adult (18-20) $120 and Adults/staff (21 ) $60.  The cost covers the food, camping fee, range fee, gun usage, targets, clays, etc. and all the ammo that you can shoot.

Important event details:

  1. All attendees must check in with all required paperwork before entering the range/camping area. This paperwork consists of a printed and signed Range Sports event waiver and a current BSA Health Form parts A & B. All adults and young adults (18-20) must also bring printed proof of YPT completion to registration.
  2. Attendees without the required paperwork will be sent home.
  3. All Scouts BSA participants 13 years of age or younger must attend with either their unit leadership or a BSA registered parent or guardian registered for this event.
  4. Any Scout (Scouts BSA, Venturer, or Sea Scout) 14 years of age or older attending without their unit must identify a person ONSITE to be responsible for them during registration.
  5. You may also just come out for Shootzenfest on Saturday, April 27, 2024 as a day trip at the same cost. However, you MUST arrive before 7:45AM for check-in to be present for the event safety briefing held shortly thereafter. You cannot participate in the event without the briefing.
  6. All campers must make their own tenting arrangements following all BSA YPT guidelines. In Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scouts, youth and adults tent separately. Adults are 18 years of age and older. Separate accommodations are required for adult males & females (spouses may share tents). This also applies to families, and parents must tent separately from their youth. Separate accommodations are also required for youth males & females. Youth (11-17) sharing a tent must be no more than 2 years apart in age.
  7. Meals are included all day Saturday and Sunday through lunch. Friday meals are ONLY provided to the setup staff who come early. All others must take care of their own dinner on Friday night.
  8. Like National and International Jamborees, ALL adults (21 ) are considered on staff and are required to sign up for work duty to help make the event a success. These duties are available during registration. Please sign up for several so that the assignments can be made fairly.
  9.  NRA Instructors/RSO's (and you know who you are) are needed on Staff to help make this event successful. Please plan to attend and put all your training to good use for our youth. We are only limited in program by the number of available instructors/RSO’s on each range. Please indicate your range preferences during registration and we will try to honor them.
  10. The Guide to Safe Scouting states that Scouts BSA members can only participate in pistol or muzzle loading pistol if they are co-registered with a Venturing Crew or Sea Scout Ship. If you would like to join a Crew or Ship PRIOR to the event, please reach out to the contacts below and they will help find a unit near you.
