This is a "penguin" class, so called because Scouts don't need to fly to earn the badge. Scouts will learn the hows and whys of things that fly, tour the world famous museum, plot and fly a course on a desktop simulator and build and fly gliders made from a foam picnic plate (no joke!). You can also get credit for having built and/or flown drones or radio control planes or have taken a Young Eagles flight or other small aircraft.

Our merit badge counselors have a wide range of experience across several military and civilian aviation disciplines. At the end of the class, instructors will discuss opportunities in the professional, private and sport aviation fields, and provide information on how to get a free airplane ride. After class, the Scouts can return to the museum to take a closer look at the current exhibits.

Cost is $25. You can register for the course at the Museum.
