Join us on Friday - Sunday, April 29 - May 1, 2022 for Shootzenfest, the Denver Area Council's premier Shooting Outing. ShootzenFest is being held at Camp Cris Dobbins at McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley, 22799 N. Elbert Road, Elbert, CO 80106.
This will be a fun filled 2 nights of camping and fellowship at MSR, open to all ages of Scouts BSA members, Venturers, and Sea Scouts. Scouts BSA members will be able to work on their rifle and shotgun merit badge shooting qualifications. Please note: this event is not open to Cub Scouts. Venturers can work on their Ranger award shooting sports requirements, and all shooters can work on their NRA marksmanship qualification program skill advancements or you can just shoot for fun. Through the Top Shot Event, additional competitive shooting activities are included in the program for all participants. Even though the focus is on the youth participants, adults and instructors can have a little shooting time as available.
Cost: Early Bird Youth/participant $99 If you're 20 years of age or under, please sign up for the 11-20 age group section. - Adults/staff $45. After 04/21/22 registration increases to Youth $120 and Adults/staff $55. The cost covers the food, camping fee, range fee, gun usage, targets, clays, etc. and all the ammo that you can shoot. You may also just come out for Saturday, April 30 as a day trip at the same cost. However, you MUST arrive before 7:45 AM for check-in to be present for the event safety briefing. There are no discounts for Saturday-only and no refunds can be given unless the entire event is cancelled.
Important event details:
- All participants MUST have a printed and signed shooting sports event waiver, BSA Health Form parts A & B, and BSA departure day screening form. (blank copies attached).
- All participants that are 13 years of age or younger must attend with either a unit leader or BSA registered parent or guardian. This adult is responsible to ensure that all YPT guidelines are followed.
- All adults and youth over 18 must be current on Youth Protection Training. Please bring printed proof of completion with you. All YPT protocols MUST be followed.
- You may also just come out for Saturday, April 30 as a day trip at the same cost. However, you MUST arrive before 7:45AM for check-in to be present for the event safety briefing. You cannot participate in the event without the briefing.
- All campers must make their own tenting arrangements: either their own tent or sharing with other Scouts of the appropriate age & gender: Married couples can be in the same tent. All BSA YPT guidelines must be followed by all.
- Meals are included for all day Saturday and Sunday through lunch. Friday meals are ONLY provided to the setup staff who come early. All others must take care of their own dinner on Friday night.
- Like National & International Jamborees, ALL adults are considered on staff and are required to sign up for work duty to help make the event a success. These duties are available during registration and please sign up for several so that the assignments can be made fairly.
- All attendees must check in with all required paperwork before entering the range/camping area. Attendees without required paperwork will be sent home.
- NRA INSTRUCTORS/RSO’s (and you know who you are) are needed on Staff to help make this event successful – Please plan to attend and put all your training to good use for our youth. We are only limited in program by the number of available instructors/RSO’s on each range. Please indicate your range preferences and we will try to honor them.
- All participants must bring plenty of their own water for drinking and hand washing. One gallon per person per day is recommended. Water access may be limited on camp so be prepared.
- Because of BSA restrictions, Scouts BSA can only participate in pistol or muzzle loading pistol if they are co-registered with a Crew or Ship. If you would like to join a Crew or Ship PRIOR to the event, please indicate this during sign-up and reach out to the contacts below and they will help find a unit near you.
