Come join us for a trek through Philmont Scout Ranch. The Denver Area Council will be sending 1 crew to Philmont to participate in this trek. (12 Max)

Situated in Northern New Mexico, Philmont Scout Ranch, the Boy Scouts of America's premier High Adventure base, challenges Scouts and Venturer with more than 214 square miles of rugged north New Mexico wilderness.

A crew will consist of 7-12 people, with a maximum of 4 adults total per crew. Each adult must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America and MUST have Youth Protection Training. Verification of a Tetanus Immunization within 10 years prior to arrival at Philmont is required as well.

The cost for the trek is $1300. There is a NON-refundable $100 deposit per person at the time of registration that is only refundable per the high adventure policy outlined at the information sessions. Please, check your calendars and plan accordingly.

Physical preparation for this trek is a must and there is a schedule of hikes and backpacking trips planned so that individuals are prepared.  You must be physically prepared to carry a 35-50 lb. pack over steep rocky trails at elevations ranging from 6,500 - 12,500 feet. It is recommended that a period of 6 months be allowed for physical conditioning.

The first step will be a physical exam from your physician who will complete the forms provided by Philmont. Staff physicians at Philmont reserve the right to deny access to the trails to any adult or youth on the basis of the physical recheck at Philmont. All medical evaluation forms will be checked by Philmont medical staff.

Areas of concern include, by are not limited to: heart disease, seizure disorder, sickle cell anemia, and hemophilia. Blood pressure without medication must be less than 150/95 for any participant to be permitted to hike at Philmont. If there are any doubts after the individual has had a physical exam, contact Philmont.
