Big Horn National Youth Leadership Training

A prerequiste to attend Big Horn NYLT is the completion of Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troop. This workshop is conducted by the Scoutmaster for his youth leaders and offered at the Unit level.

Big Horn National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT): Big Horn National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Course is an intense weeklong youth oriented leadership training experience and held annually at Tahosa High Adventure Base near Ward, Colorado. Each week, the training is conducted by highly qualified youth staff under the supervision of adult advisors using the National Youth Leadership Training syllabus, as published by the National Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is pleased to offer five sessions of this invaluable training opportunity to our youth leaders.

In order to attend an NYLT course, a youth must have the following qualifications by the beginning of the course:

Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts

• Must be 13 years of age and have not reached their 18th birthday
• Must be at least a First Class Scouts
• Must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops
• Must have the recommendation of the Scoutmaster

Venturer/Sea Scout

• Must be at least 14 years old
• Must have completed Crew Officers Orientation
• Must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills or Introduction to Leadership Skills for Ships
• Must have the recommendation of the Crew Advisor
